Founded back in 1993, Alan started building up the company single handedly. In 1997, the company had grown to a modest team of three, starting to make our impact on the industry. Alans passion and determination set the foundation for what ABL has grown into today.

Over the decades, Alan has cultivated an extensive network of industry contacts and accumulated a wealth of expertise. With experience spanning diverse areas including external awnings, shutters, shaped blinds, manufacturing and motorisation. This broad skill set has enabled him to offer tailored solutions to clients, whether for domestic spaces or complex commercial projects.

Alan’s deep understanding of the industry has proven invaluable, particularly for commercial projects that often demand strict compliance with specific regulations and technical requirements. His expertise in components and fabrics, coupled with strong relationships with a variety of suppliers, allows him to consistently deliver solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations.

For example, a recent project involved a care home in Hackney. The projects required performance fabrics with highly specific technical characteristics, including fire retardancy, high UV protection, and a non-blackout specification at 3% opacity. By leveraging his knowledge and industry connections, Alan ensured these exacting requirements and others within the brief were met, delivering solutions perfectly tailored to the clients’ needs.
